Letting Go to Let More In
Written by
Jennifer Covello
I am in the process of reading “The Power” by Rhonda Byrne, the author of “The Secret”. While there really isn’t anything substantially new in this book, it is an affirmation of “The Secret” with more emphasis on how powerful love is in our lives. Giving love and receiving love. If you’ve read “The Secret”, its basic premise is that the Law of Attraction is working in our lives every minute. So when we give love, we receive love. It’s that simple.
The other day I was watching a motivational speaker talking about peace in your life and how to get more of it. She said something that resonated with me which was to take a moment to think about…

An Ode to Summer, 2010
Written by
Jennifer Covello
As we leave behind the summer of 2010, here are a few musings on its passing.
Goodbye to the first case of poison ivy I have ever had in my life.
Goodbye to the non-stop bee nests I had to spray with God-knows-what type of pesticide so they wouldn’t invade my house and send my children screeching with fear.
Goodbye to the little deer who ate every one of my hosta plants while staring at me and laughing.
Goodbye to the annoying, (but VERY cute) family of raccoons who decided to build a house under my deck and ate all the Froot Loops, while evading the trap (also laughing at me.)
Goodbye to the extremely annoying, (but VERY cute) birds…

Rooting for the Underdog
Written by

Recently I took my children to see “The Karate Kid” movie. I had very low expectations since I saw the original with Pat Morita and Ralph Macchio. To my utter surprise, I thought this version was so much better. And Jaden Smith has a long acting career ahead of him.

Lessons Learned from My Spring Flowers

My lawn and landscaping are the envy of the neighborhood. Yes, I said it. I don’t boast about myself very often, but this is well-deserved.

Diamonds in the Rough…
Written by

Here I am again talking about my favorite show, American Idol. As many of you are aware, my pick, Siobhan Magnus, was voted off a few weeks ago. At the time of this writing, the top three have been identified: Casey, Crystal, and Lee. And for the first time in my Idol watching history, I am not excited about any of them. I wanted Siobhan to be up there and somehow, the remaining contestants just don’t seem like American Idols.

Think
Written by

Several weeks ago, as I was watching American Idol (I admit it - I'm a huge fan), I was completely blown away by a performance by one of the female contestants, Siobhan Magnus. She sang Aretha Franklin's "Think". I've heard other contestants sing this song in the past - some better than others, but Siobhan? I have to tell you that I watched her performance and the critique afterwards at least a dozen times or more.

Who Do You Think You Are?
Written by
Jennifer Covello
Recently, in my Working Mother blog, I talked about how wonderful it was baking bread with my father. And previously, in my own blog, I wrote about taking my childhood desk back from my son. Coincidentally, I also just saw a sneak peak of the new Lisa Kudrow reality series about celebrities looking at their genealogy to determine their roots. It was interesting to see how their past influenced their present circumstances.

Where it all began
Written by

In my last posting, I spoke about my son’s room being transformed into a teenage ‘man cave’. One of the tasks of this transition was to remove his desk. He didn’t use it for homework and it was only taking up space. Plus, it wasn’t really his desk. It was mine from when I was a child. I had it moved from Long Island several years ago because it is one of the few pieces of furniture from my childhood that truly meant something to me.

Enjoy this time

My son approached me a few weeks ago about making some changes in his room. He wanted to replace his bedding and his WWE (wrestling) posters and other paraphernalia because he felt he was “getting too old.”

Welcome to the all new Frittabello blog by Jennifer Covello!

Sounds so formal, doesn’t it? Well, I promise this blog will be anything but that. I’m excited to begin this new way of communicating to you and I look forward to your comments and feedback. As with all beginnings, I thought I’d start with my own beginning, well, Frittabello’s beginning anyway. (Mine started way too long ago and there are space limits!)
